Infant bookings
Below, you’ll find important information about travelling with infants including the various SSR codes, when they should be used, how to apply them to your booking and more.
SSR codes for infants

Important notes:
- To ensure a seamless travel experience and avoid delays at the airport, please confirm if your client is intending to travel with a child restraint system in a seat.
- All INFT, EXST and INST bookings are subject to the available fare, taxes, fees, and charges for the extra seat.
- If your client booked a lap-held infant and requests an extra seat (INFT EXST), the reservation must be cancelled following applicable fare guidelines and rebooked at the currently available fare.
Bassinets
Bassinets are only available on the 787-9 Dreamliner and are subject to availability. Your client can request a bassinet for an eligible lap-held infant at the airport only. Bassinets may not be added at the time of booking. Applicable seat fees apply if your client requests a seat where a bassinet can be accommodated.
Lap-held infant (INFT) turning two in transit
- An INFT who turns two while in transit is an infant who begins the outbound portion of their itinerary before their second birthday but completes the return portion after their second birthday. On the return flight, the infant is considered a child and must occupy a paid seat.
- An INFT who turns two while in transit has the baggage allowance determined by their purchased fare.
- INFTs turning two in transit must be booked as a lap-held infant one way on the parent’s PNR and then by themselves on the return on a separate PNR. Please call the Travel Support Team for assistance with these bookings.
Partner airline guest travelling with an infant
Partner airlines may have different guidelines for guests travelling with an infant. Guidelines that may differ include:
- Minimum age of the accompanying adult.
- Number of infants the accompanying adult may be responsible for.
- Managing an infant turning two in transit.
Please refer to the other airline’s specific policies about infants and children when booking for your clients.
