Summary

WestJet’s ticketing time limits vary by route, class of service, the date of reservation creation and the date of departure.

Ticketing Time Limits (TTLs) are issued from reservation creation unless otherwise stated and are based on when the reservation was booked.

All TTLs apply to WestJet marketed and operated flights, as well as WestJet marketed flights operated by our partner carriers.

The following is a detailed overview of restrictions that apply based on route, class of service, and the date of reservation creation and the date of departure.

Frequently asked questions

The most restrictive rule will always apply if there is a combined fare on an itinerary. For example, if you booked YYCLAS-LASYYC, and the outbound is in X class with a TTL of end of next day and the inbound is in W class with a TTL of 3 days before departure, the TTL for X class would apply to the full journey.

The most restrictive rule will always apply if there is an advance purchase on a fare. For example, if the TTL is 3 days before departure and the advance purchase is 30 days before departure, the advance purchase of 30 days before will apply.

 

The most restrictive rule will always apply if there is a sales restriction on an itinerary. For example, if the TTL is 3 days before departure and there is a sales restriction book by date to issue 15 days before departure, the sales restriction of 15 days will apply.

The most restrictive TTL will apply to interline journeys that include a WestJet marketed flight and a flight marketed by one of our partner carriers. For example, if the WestJet TTL is 72 hours from the reservation creation and the partner carrier’s TTL is 48 hours from the reservation creation, the partner’s TTL will apply.

 

In most cases, the TTL will be the same for pricing and inventory. When differences occur, the most restrictive rule will apply. Examples include (but are not limited to) when there are combined classes on a connection journey outside Canada, or in instances where “last day to purchase” is not available in your pricing.

The TTLs follow the booking agency’s local time zone. The only exception is when booking 12 to 24 hours before departure. Ticketing must occur at least 12 hours before the location of the flight departure time zone. For example: If the flight departs at 8 a.m. ET from Toronto and the booking agency is in Calgary (MT), ticketing must occur the day before at 6 p.m. MT (8 p.m. ET).
