Important reminders for supporting clients

To ensure we’re providing a seamless journey for our shared clients, we included some important reminders below about our gate closure and check-in times, schedule changes and our travel advisory policy page.

Gate-closure and domestic check-in closure times

To support more consistent, on-time departures and a smoother airport experience for our guests, we updated our gate-closure timing and domestic check-in cut off times earlier this year. Please remind your clients of these times before they travel.

  • Effective March 31, gate-closure timing on the 737 and Q400 fleets moved from 10 minutes to 15 minutes before departure.
  • Effective April 28, domestic check-in and checked baggage cut-off times moved from 45 minutes to 60 minutes before departure. Please note: There was no change to the international check-in close time.

Actioning schedule changes

Please ensure you are actioning all schedule changes and informing your client of any updates before they travel. This is an important step to help avoid delays or confusion when your clients arrive at the airport for their flight.

Updates to travel advisory page

Our travel advisory page on the advisor hub is updated during business hours (Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. MT). Outside of these hours, please visit WestJet’s travel advisory page to see any impacted destinations. Note: An advisory does not need to be listed on the advisor hub page for you to process a change or cancellation. If WestJet’s travel advisory page identifies an impacted destination, you should follow the policy guidelines on the advisor hub and use the applicable waiver code.

Cabin refresh now complete

We’re pleased to share we completed the transformation of our remaining all-economy aircraft, fulfilling our commitment to update the interior of all aircraft that were formerly operated by Swoop or Sunwing airlines. The cabin refresh includes upgraded Premium seating, an expanded Extended Comfort cabin and a refreshed interior look and feel. Aircraft that previously operated with an all-economy layout will now feature thoughtful design elements and modern amenities to support guests throughout their journey.

Unifying our narrowbody fleet is an important step in delivering the reliable and welcoming experience our guests and WestJetters expect from us.

Our biggest sun destination schedule yet

This winter, we’re offering our most extensive schedule to Latin America and the Caribbean. Some highlights of our upcoming winter schedule include:

  • Significant growth between Calgary and Mexico, including twice-daily flights between Calgary and Los Cabos, increased daily flights to Cancun and the introduction of non-stop service between Calgary and Merida.
  • A new weekly flight between Saskatoon and Puerto Vallarta as well as Cancun, increasing weekly frequencies on both routes from four to five times during peak travel periods.
  • Twice as many weekly flights than what we offered last year between Edmonton and Los Cabos, and Edmonton and Montego Bay.
  • Additional weekly frequencies between Winnipeg and four sun destinations including Liberia Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos, plus new service to Belize City and Punta Cana.
  • Non-stop flights between Regina and Los Cabos for the first time.
